The main target that the virus affects is lymphoid tissue, myocardium and intestinal epithelium. And, based on the characteristics of the virus (small size of the genome), for its intensive replication, cells with active metabolic processes are needed. In newborn puppies in the first 2 weeks of life, myocardial tissue most actively grows. After 8 weeks, the number of cells of the intestinal epithelium begins to increase intensively. This determines the predominant nature of lesions: in newborn puppies, the disease proceeds with intense myocardial damage, and in older animals, the intestinal tract is mainly affected |
