Program search — Epicondylitis (tennis elbow, lateral or vertical)
Name | Epicondylitis (tennis elbow, lateral or vertical) |
Description | Epicondylitis - degenerative-inflammatory changes in the place of attachment to the humerus (in the elbow joint) of the tendons of the muscles of the outer and inner region of the forearm. Often affects the external epicondyle (the place of attachment of extensors of the hand), in this case the diagnosis of external epicondylitis is established, much less often the tendon of the flexor flexors (inner epicondylitis) is involved in the process. The cause of epicondylitis is an overload (with the background of professional activity, weight lifting, repair, home canning, tennis) of the said enthesies (places of attachment of tendons or ligaments to the bone) with their microtraumatism and with the secondary development of the inflammatory reaction. In some cases, the disease is preceded by a direct injury. The pre-existing state of the ligamentous apparatus also has significance. Thus, hypermobile persons (with signs of congenital weakness of the ligamentous apparatus) tend to develop this disease; they also have a more severe course. The disease affects middle-aged people (40-60 years). The process involves mainly the dominant limb (right arm) |
