| Description | Human herpes type 5. Sialadenitis is an inflammation of the salivary gland as a result of infection into it or a violation of salivation. With sialadenite salivary gland is more often infected through the main excretory duct, less often by lymphogenous or hematogenous pathways. Distinguish between acute and chronic sialadenitis. In acute sialadenitis, swelling occurs in the gland, pain that increases with eating. The gland is enlarged, painful with palpation. From the duct, little saliva is released, it is cloudy, sometimes pus flows. The most difficult is non-epidemic parotitis. There may be complications - abscess, less often phlegmon. Sometimes there is a transition to the chronic form of sialadenite, especially when there is a stone. Chronic sialadenitis is manifested by a progressive decrease in salivation, often by a sensation of dry mouth (see Xerostomia). The gland is enlarged, dense, painless.
